Letter from Tigger and Simba's PurrMom
I'm not sure if you remember Simba & Tigger -- a lovely woman named Joyce raised these 2 sweet brothers until they were 5, and then she brought them to Purrfect Companions because of her failing health. I happened to be at PetCo one September afternoon and saw these two beautiful big boys! Everything worked out and they've been living with me (or rather, I've been living in THEIR house now for a year and 4 months). They have brought me so much laughter and happiness and have really made my house a home. I wanted to thank you and to give you a little update on how they've been.
Let's see. Where to start?? Simba is the long-haired guy who loves being brushed. He is a little skeptical of strangers at first, but once Tigger greets them and somehow signals to his brother that they are good people, Simba comes back downstairs and is a most welcome host. Simba is definitely the more mischievous of the two! In the past year he has gone swimming in the toilet a few times and last spring he jumped out of a second story window and rolled around in the mud for a little while (thankfully I happened to look out the window and was able to get him before he got too far -- a trip to the vet the next day determined that he was fine). He also enjoys climbing Christmas trees and drinking water from the tree stand! In the beginning when he need a little "getaway", he dug a hole in the box spring and crawled up in to it. It sags down when he goes in there and we refer to it as his "hammock". He hasn't been there in many many months.
Tigger is the most loyal, sweetest, lovable kitty in the world. He greets everyone at the door and gives head-buts so that people will pet him. He loves to flop down on the floor and have his soft white belly rubbed. He & Simba also enjoy laser light shows, where they chase a flashlight beam around the floor. They can't seem to figure out why they can't catch it. For being 6 years old, Tigger still has a LOT of kitten in him! He likes to wake me up in the middle of the night and attack my feet! He also likes to burrow himself under covers. His most favorite spot is to sit in the bay window. (The little boy who lives next door refers to him as the "kitty in the window".) He is very curious and quite emotional. He is a sensitive little guy and just loves life!
I could talk about these two precious kitties all day! Right now Simba is sitting on the floor beside me (all tucked under), and Tigger is sleeping on the back cushion of the couch next to the bay window (perhaps the window is too cold). They follow me from room to room and seem to be very happy here.
Also on a health front, the boys are very healthy. At their last vet appointment in October, Simba weighed just over 14 lbs., Tigger weighed just over 15 lbs. On the vet's advice, I switched their food to Science Diet Sensitive Stomach and that seems to be much better for them. Interestingly, Tigger has gained a pound in the first year - the vet says that there is nothing to worry about, as he is a big kitty.
Well, that's all for now. Thank you again for bringing these two amazing kitties into my life.
- Jenny
